How Noel is Changing Her Life Stitch by Stitch |
|

An interview with NoelÂ
Noel has been with Kenana Knitters for 6 years. In her words, she said the best thing about working at Kenana Knitters is that "It generate me and keeps me busy at home and here."  She explains how Kenana Knitters has made a difference in her life. "It has made a difference. I think a big difference. Before I was at Kenana Knitters I was sitting at home doing nothing. Now I think creatively and I feel I can do many things." Then, she talked about the difference Kenana Knitters is making in the community. "We have many women in the community that spin and knit. This is different from other jobs we might get, such as at the flower farm. There, you have to wait for money, which forces you to spend it all at once. Here you can have money anytime you work."
Â
Noel expressed she has not only benefited from the income, but from the family planning, the HEP Vaccine and HIV tests. She said Kenana Knitters encouraged and provided the testing, which most women would otherwise not know they should do so. Noel said her dream for herself is "to be a big business lady - maybe with farming or with my own boutique with knitted items." For Kenana Knitters, she dreams "for everyone to have success and not to be struggling." Â
